How to Check Your Board Result Online & by SMS — Complete Guide
Result day is stressful enough on its own. Whether you're checking a matric or inter result — from any BISE board or the Federal Board — there are three official ways to do it: the board's website, its SMS service, and the result gazette. I've explained all three below, step by step, so you spend result day reading your marks, not fighting with a slow website.
| Applies to | All BISE boards (Lahore, Karachi, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Multan, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Bahawalpur, DG Khan, Sahiwal, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Larkana, Mirpurkhas, Peshawar, Abbottabad, Swat, Malakand, Kohat, Bannu, DI Khan, Quetta, Turbat, Zhob, AJK Mirpur) and FBISE Islamabad |
|---|---|
| Classes | 9th, 10th (Matric / SSC) and 1st year, 2nd year (Intermediate / HSSC) |
| Checking methods | Official website (by roll number), SMS service, result gazette (PDF / printed) |
| What you need | Your examination roll number — printed on your roll number slip |
| Cost | Website and gazette are free on official sites; SMS carries the standard charges stated in the board's announcement |
Method 1 — Check on the board's official website (by roll number)
The website gives you the full picture — all your subject-wise marks in one place. It's also the busiest route in the first few hours, so do read the "website is slow" section further down before result day.
- Go to your board's official website — type the address yourself, or use the board links on our Results page. And never trust a look-alike site that asks for your CNIC or money to "show" you a result.
- Look for the Results section. On result day it's usually right there on the homepage; otherwise check the menu for "Results" or "Online Results".
- Pick your class and examination — for example "SSC Part II (10th) Annual" or "HSSC Part I (1st Year) Annual" — plus the year, exactly as printed on your roll number slip.
- Type in your roll number carefully. Some boards also let you search by name, either on the portal or through the gazette.
- Hit submit and read your marks sheet. Screenshot or print it immediately — if the site goes down later (and it often does), you'll still have your record.
One thing to keep in mind: what you see on screen is just for your information. The document that actually counts for admissions is the official result card / marks certificate — regular candidates get it through their school, and the board sends it to private candidates.
Method 2 — Check by SMS
Most boards also run an SMS service on result day — and honestly, this is often the fastest option, especially when the website is overloaded or you don't have internet. It works almost the same everywhere: you send your roll number to the board's official code (some boards ask for a short keyword before it), and your marks come back by SMS within a few minutes.
Important: Every board has its own SMS code and format, and codes can change between sessions. So always take the code from the board's own result announcement. I publish the verified code inside each board's result post here on Pak Edu Point (for example, our BISE Rawalpindi guide and BISE Karachi guide). Never send your roll number to a random code that only reached you through a forwarded WhatsApp message.
Method 3 — Check through the result gazette
Every board also issues a result gazette along with the online result — basically the complete result of every candidate, usually as a big PDF on the board's website. Printed copies are available at the board office and with institutions too. The gazette is your best option when:
- You've lost your roll number — you can search the gazette by your name and father's name.
- A school or parent wants to check many students at once.
- The result portal is down but the gazette PDF is still available.
Just download it from the board's official website, open it, and use the PDF search (Ctrl+F) with your name or roll number.
When the board website is slow or not opening
If your result doesn't load, don't panic — this happens every single result day, with every board, within minutes of the announcement. Lakhs of students hit the same page at the same time. Don't keep refreshing non-stop either. Do this instead:
- Use the SMS method — it doesn't depend on the website at all.
- Download the gazette PDF — it's often easier to load than the result portal.
- Wait 30–60 minutes and try the website again. Traffic drops quickly once the first rush passes.
- Watch out for fake "result" websites and apps that pop up on result day asking for fees, CNIC numbers or app installs. The official channels above are free (apart from any standard SMS charge).
After you have your result
If you passed: collect your official result card from your school or board, keep a few copies safe, and keep an eye on the admission deadlines for the next stage — our university admissions guide explains how that whole process works.
If a paper didn't go well: boards open a rechecking (paper re-count) process after results, and they also hold supplementary / second-annual examinations for students who failed a subject or want to improve. Both are announced through official notifications with their own forms and last dates — apply only through the board office or its website, and read the announcement carefully before you pay any fee.
If your name or marks look wrong in the record: regular candidates should contact their institution first; private candidates can go straight to the board's result branch. Take your roll number slip and result card along with you.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need my CNIC to check a board result?
No. You only need your examination roll number. Some portals also offer a name-based search, and the gazette can be searched by name too. Any website that asks for your CNIC or a fee to show a board result is not official — stay away from it.
I lost my roll number slip. How can I check my result?
Don't worry — this happens to a lot of students. Regular students can get their roll number from their school, since every school receives the complete result of its students. You can also search the official result gazette by name, or use the "search by name" option if your board's portal has one. And if nothing works, visit the board office with your registration details and CNIC.
Is the SMS result final and official?
Yes — where a board provides an SMS service, it's an official facility and it shows your obtained marks. Just remember that the formal document for admissions and your records is the official result card / marks certificate issued by the board, so always collect that and keep it safe.
What does it mean if my result is not showing?
First, check the basics: did you select the right class, the right exam (annual/supplementary) and the right year, and type the roll number exactly? If it still doesn't appear, your result may be one of the cases a board holds back for verification — contact your institution or the board office. Don't rely on any unofficial website's explanation of it.
Can I improve my marks after the result?
Yes, you can. Boards announce improvement and supplementary examinations after the annual results, and you can re-appear in one or more subjects under the board's rules. The schedule, form and fee all come in the board's official notification — follow that, not social-media posts.
